At Playpals, we provide three balanced meals and two snacks every day to keep the children energized and healthy:

Breakfast (8:45am) – Cereal or porridge

Morning Snack (10:30/11am) – Fresh fruit or vegetables

Lunch (12pm) – A hot, nutritious meal

Afternoon Snack (3pm) – Biscuit and milk (oat/soya milk provided where needed)

Tea (4:30/5pm) – Sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables

All meals are prepared fresh on-site by our trained staff, ensuring each child’s safety and nutritional needs are met.

Children sit at the table together, and enjoy socializing as they build positive meal time routines. Sunflower children are encouraged to pour their own drinks from jugs, and often have free flow snack times, where they are able to help themselves and practice their skills in peeling and preparing their snack with the help of an adult.

All full time staff are fully trained in food handling, and this is checked regularly to ensure that all staff have up to date training.

In all rooms we aim to help the children work on the independent skills, that will carry them on through to the next stage of their journey and development.

In the Sunflower Room, we are working towards these independent skills:

• I can flush the toilet on my own

• I can wash my hands without help, whilst supervised

• I can use the toilet independently with few accidents

• I can put my coat on unaided

• I can use a knife and fork at mealtimes

• I can put my slip-on shoes on myself and on the right feet

• I can help lay the table by counting knives, forks and plates

We focus on preparing the children for school, increasing their independence and following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

In Sunflower room, we discuss our nursery rules, the behavior we expect and why we have rules.
